About our Orchard
Nestled amid the rolling hills of picturesque Woodstock Hill, Connecticut is Woodstock Orchards LLC. While growing up on his family orchard, Harold R. Bishop was influenced to follow his dreams and purchase his own orchard. Harold graduated from UConn's College of Agriculture in 1957 and in 1958 purchased the well established orchard from H.M. Woodbury. At that time, the orchard produced apples, peaches, pears and plums.
In 1998, an LLC was formed with Harold, Douglas and Donna Young as partners. Douglas had worked the orchard and brought diversity to the orchard since 1975. The farm has diversified growing blueberries, trellis apples for pick your own, it's own field and greenhouse vegetables, pumpkins, hardy mums and fresh, sweet apple cider. The orchard continues to focus on a retail you pick type of operation to allow customers to enjoy the farm family experience. Our Woodstock Orchards LLC family pride ourselves with working hard to grow high quality fruit and produce with an increased emphasis on the retail side of the business. New to the orchard business is Douglas and Donna Young's son, Eric who has taken a special interest in the family business. Eric has completed college with Suny Cobleskill majoring in crop production and soil science.
