A Fall Favorite in Woodstock Connecticut

There’s nothing like the smell of hot spiced cider filling your kitchen on a crisp autumn day. Whether you’re coming back from apple picking in Woodstock CT or just looking for a way to warm up, this simple recipe is one of our most-loved fall traditions.

Made with our own Woodstock Orchards apple cider, this blend of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg brings out the natural sweetness of the fruit and fills the room with the coziest aroma. It’s the perfect drink to sip during a fall gathering, a family game night, or while winding down after a visit to the farm stand.

Hot Spiced Cider Recipe

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups Woodstock Orchards apple cider

  • ½ teaspoon whole cloves

  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 3 cinnamon sticks

Instructions:

  1. In a 3-quart saucepan, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.

  3. Strain out the cloves and cinnamon sticks before serving, if desired.

  4. Serve hot in your favorite mug.

Local Tip: Our fresh-pressed Connecticut apple cider is available throughout the fall season, and it makes all the difference in this recipe. You can also use it as a base for mulled wine or spiced bourbon cocktails—just ask us at the stand for pairing ideas!
